Jupiter in Cancer: Healing the Relationship with our Mother
The Mother is the doorway to Life. She is our first relationship and our first “Universe”. Before we know the world, love, security, and Life itself, we know our mother.

Throughout the pregnancy, there is no separation; our mother’s womb and body are our world. Therefore, the relationship with our mother strongly influences how we build our relationships in this lifetime. Mother represents Life, nurturing, abundance, receptive energy, our ability to receive, and our sense of worthiness.
The Mother is symbolised by the Moon and the sign of Cancer. Cancer’s symbol is the crab, with much happening beneath the surface and a protective shell to defend himself. Cancer is the realm of our emotions, and here emotions can move and initiate change. In the birth chart, the Moon not only symbolises the Mother but also our inner child and the relationship with ourselves. This is so interesting because if we didn’t feel nurtured by our mothers, we may find it difficult to nurture our inner child. The truth is that our mothers are human beings, and not perfect. They did what they could with the consciousness, resources, and experiences they had at the time. A mother can only give the nurturing that she has received from her own mother.
Cancer expresses the nourishing and purifying aspect of the Moon, making it the place where Jupiter becomes exalted. In the body, Cancer represents the breast and chest region as well as the home where the child is nourished. As Jupiter transits Cancer from 2 June to 31 October 2026, and from 25 January to 26 June 2027, it illuminates our relationship with our mother, our emotions, our emotional security and vulnerability, our connection with our home and homeland – all of these are connected. It invites profound inner work and emotional healing.
Jupiter in Cancer gives positive emotions, contentment and fulfillment. Jupiter also represents children, and naturally, there can be an increase in births during this transit. Through childbirth and motherhood, women are confronted with the relationship with their own mothers, which can certainly be a profound, though often challenging, process. This transit also exposes emotional wounds and abuse pointing out to unresolved pain connected to the mother and the feminine lineage.
Jupiter’s journey through Punarvasu nakshatra (1June – 18 June 2026) opens all this process of healing. Pushya nakshatra (18 June – 19 August 2026) sustains this process. In Ashlesha (19 August – 31 October 2026 and 25 January – 26 June 2027), the process might be intensified, bringing deep transformation.
Wherever Jupiter enters, it brings light and expansion to that place. Whatever this transit reveals, it will direct us toward greater emotional healing, freedom, and the healing of unconscious patterns that keep repeating, and that bring us away from who we really are.
Bert Hellinger said that in the lap of the mother we have everything, we don’t miss anything. Jupiter is definitely allowing us to occupy our place in the family system with the mother integrated within ourselves .Every twelve years, as Jupiter returns to Cancer, we are offered another opportunity to deepen this healing with more care and compassion.
